Senior joins Dutch consortium working on zero-emissions aircraft

LONDON (ShareCast) - (Sharecast News) - FTSE 250 international engineering and manufacturing group Senior has joined a consortium led by Dutch aerospace firm Conscious Aerospace, focused on accelerating the roll-out of next generation, sustainable aviation solutions.
Hydrogen Aircraft Powertrain and Storage System (HAPSS) is part of the Dutch government's 'Aviation in Transition' programme, developing new technologies for fuel efficient and zero-emissions aircraft, along with associated research activities.
HAPSS, which has already received €73m of funding from the Dutch National Growth Fund, is hoping to fly a fully certifiable zero emissions liquid hydrogen propulsion system by retrofitting a Dash 8-300 aircraft with its hydrogen fuel cell propulsion system.
Through the recently opened Senior Innovation Centre in South Wales, Senior will work within HAPSS's thermal management team, using its fluid conveyance and thermal management expertise to help develop components needed to cool the entire propulsion system.
"Senior offers pivotal technologies for environmental efficiency and emissions reductions. The HAPSS project is an excellent opportunity for Senior to push boundaries and deliver an innovative Thermal Management System solution for this ground-breaking zero emissions aircraft," said Senior's aerospace president Launie Fleming.
